There are 3 albums which are, despite the lengthy twisting journey by which they came about, in many ways make the perfect set. Each are different, in sound, in direction and are heavy beginning with 1981 Mob Rules, 1992 Dehumanizer and this superlative 2009 piece The Devil You Know. Appice/Butler/Dio/Iommi delivered a monumentally heavy piece, a first rate record which surprised many at the time of release.
It is the first and last record under the Heaven and Hell moniker, Pop Pickers this a must for any self-respecting Metal Head's collection. There is something for everyone.
Standouts for me are the likes of the infectious Bible Black, Follow The Tears, Neverwhere and the seriously slow burn of Breaking Into Heaven. There is deep reflection and heavy doom running through the record.
If time could stand still I will happily bask in the 3 albums for eternity such is their grip on my heart and soul. Chained ? Yes
Willingly? Most definitely!
