1989... my year is best summed up by reading "Killing Joke" by Bolland & Moore; a cosplay loving girl named after a 1958 Plymouth Fury; my 3rd Kwacker resplendent in Midnight Blue; in solitude i'd invariably be gripped bug-eyed in the iron hand of enduring unholy habit in front a VHS starring Roussel as the la Monaca di Monza; in terms of music the Friday Rock Show was still very much part of my life; my old chum Mike had introduced me to the diverse likes of Loudness and Candlemass and I'd oft be listening to the Black Sabbath album Headless Cross, seeing the Sabs live in Edinburgh with the "Ave Satani/Gates of Hell" intro although my memory fades and yet most of all that year - indeed most of all in terms of my life's musical journey...I was fortunate to discover the unholy epiphany that is the album 'Black Sanctuary' by GENOCIDE nippon, which had been released on King Klassic Records the previous year - the best £1.99 I ever spent on a noisy cassette and slab of vinyl...and later on CD.
